Student Sharing | Drákos - Hymn of Decay - Maurice Béjart | Danae & Dionysos
Intensive & Focus on Creation
The evening opens with a presentation by the students from the Intensive program dedicated to the repertoire of celebrated choreographer Maurice Béjart. During their time at Orsolina28, the students have worked closely with the company’s current Artistic Director, Julien Favreau, alongside members of the artistic team Juichi Kobayashi and Elisabet Ros, deepening their understanding of Béjart’s distinctive language and artistic legacy.
Then, artistic duo Danae & Dionysos presents the result of their residency here in Orsolina28, as part of the “Focus on Creation” program. Built on five dancers, “Δράκος – Hymn of Decay” (Drakos) aspires to reveal the human being and everything that surrounds them in their most truthful form: where everything is born from what has been lived and from what never had the chance to be completed.
Key to the work is the relationship between dance and garment: through a collaboration with a Greek artisanal brand, Ancient Kallos, the choreographers relate to their cultural heritage, mythology and traditional Greek embroidery techniques, embodying the connection between memory, time and contemporary creation.
This presentation is a sharing of a work in progress developed during the residency at Orsolina28. The official premiere of "Δράκος – Hymn of Decay" will take place in Greece as part of the cultural program “All of Greece One Culture”.
In line with our values of inclusion and accessibility, all of our presentations are open to the community at no cost (reservations are required and all donations are welcomed).
