Monk in Five - Stablemates Quartet
Cherry Notes Series
For this evening, the result of a “Cherry Notes Series residency”, Stablemates Quartet shares the stage with trumpeter Cesare Mecca.
The central inspiration for the performance is the piano of renowned Jazz artist Thelonius Monk, whose compositional universe is reinterpreted and adapted for a quintet setting in “Monk in Five”. The aim of the ensemble is to create an immersive experience: Monk’s rhythmic and harmonic complexity is here shaped through dynamic arrangements, capable of capturing the listener’s attention while remaining accessible to a non-specialist audience.
Alongside Monk’s classics, the program includes original compositions by the band, blending tradition with contemporary languages. The result is a performance driven by a tight rhythm and a compact sound, where the elegance of the quintet meets a modern and direct approach.
In line with our values of inclusion and accessibility, all of our presentations are open to the community at no cost (reservations are required and all donations are welcomed).
